Gipuzkoa - Tourism in Gipuzkoa
Gipuzkoa is projected from the coast inland. Although the beauty of its capital, Donostia-San Sebastian, tends to eclipse the other localities, those washed by the waters of the Bay of Biscay open up a world of possibilities for beach lovers, hold some charming fishing villages, and offer peaceful walks as well as the pleasures of top-rate cuisine. Inland, narrow valleys alternate with mountains whose steep meadowy slopes are dotted with farmhouses.
Apart from its lovely countryside, Gipuzkoa, which has long known manufacturing activity, has developed considerable industry, concentrated mainly along its river basins, and, at times, concealing from the visitor the wealth in monuments of its historical towns. Zerain, Segura, Zegama and Idiazabal, are living museum of Basque rural culture.
